Planetary Shifts This Month
Mars Stations Direct in Scorpio- shadow phase until August 22nd (read more)
Mars moves into Sagittarius and out of Scorpio at long last on August 4th. We should start to feel more optimistic and ready to be active, especially once it leaves the shadow phase!
Venus moves into Virgo August 5th, joining Mercury already there since the 1st of August. This means we are feeling more mentally organised and ready to tackle any detailed work that requires analysis or being precise once again. It will set everyone up well to be prepared for the school year coming up, or for anyone who has to step up the work load before fall hits.
URANUS TURNS RETROGRADE – JULY 29 to DECEMBER 29 2016
This is an important transit to understand just as the Mars retrograde cycle was for the past few months. It colours the feeling or tone of what we experience for months at a time, so it is well worth understanding what it means. In this energy we must know WHY things are happening. It makes us probe into things and want to understand. It can bring some very potent bursts of insight or creative inspiration in it's wake. You may wake up one morning and BAM! you get it ( whatever you've been mulling over) This is exciting and liberating.
Our need for freedom will erupt under an influence like this. We can be brewing and pondering something for a long time then suddenly we rebel. To others it may not make any sense unless they are savvy enough to have seen it coming. It seems to cause erratic or sudden behaviour, but really those urges will have always been there and now they are coming up and out in a clear and fast motion. This is a good month to start planning how break away from anything too confining to your spirit. You can get in touch with everything that makes you feel stuck or trapped, stagnant etc and plan to make your changes or escape when Uranus is direct again January 1st onwards.
New Moon in Leo Chart
Mars and Saturn are almost conjunct in Sagittarius in the 12th house of this chart - good if you are in the Eastern time zone . This means a lot of restlessness that is psychological and kept private, if understood at all. Sagittarius needs its freedom and wants to be active and adventurous. When Saturn touches Mars it puts the brakes on it, making it think twice before being as spontaneous as it would wish. When you put this into the 12th house of the unconscious and hidden, you get a potentially frustrating desire to bust out of anything that makes you feel controlled or held in check, and yet you may not have the way to outlet this feeling. Saturn and Mars are squaring Venus ( desires) and Mercury ( thoughts/communications) making it a bit harder to express this feeling, even though Mercury and Venus in Virgo will certainly be trying to analyse it and give it the precise wording. Saturn is also still squaring Neptune, which we have mentioned din eariler energy forecasts thsi year. I brings a sense of fear, guilt and disappointment to the edge. We can even feel somewhat hopeless under this mood, because this Sagittarian optimism is so challenged. However, the good news is that it IS in harmony with the Moon and Sun in Leo. This gives us a clearer approach that will work in our favour right now. We need a certain practical self discipline to make things work for us. It' s time to sit down with your brain turned back on, and get to work - whatever that evokes for you! You can follow your bold ideas and dreams if you are prepared to get your hands dirty and balance your check book. There is no room for dreaming and wishing it into being - not for now. Tie up those loose ends, clean up that space inside your home or your head, and roll up your sleeves.
Full Moon in Aquarius Chart - Lunar Eclipse!
A penumbral lunar eclipse will take place on August 18, 2016, the second of three lunar eclipses in 2016.
Saturn and Mars are now in tighter aspect so the feelings described in the New moon description will be more intense. However it switches the house it plays out in - the 4th house of family and home. These two planets will not aspect the Full Moon directly, but they make squares to many other planets in this chart - Neptune, Venus and the North Node. There might be a more profound feeling of, "you can't always get what you want". The prominent emphasis of this Full Moon Eclipse will be in relationships - your needs vs the demands of a relationship or commitment. Your wants vs the group or family. The good news is that the Moon is in Aquarius in that 7th house of partnerships, so an unconventional solution can be found to whatever problems you are having. We also see that the Sun in Leo in the First house of Self is making a great aspect to Uranus, which in turn makes a harmonious aspect to the Moon. This means that if we look for the unique, bold or unconventional and allow people more space and freedom, we will actually preserve our bonds better than if we cling to old models with them.
We also have a Yod pattern in this chart - Uranus sextile the Moon both quinicunx to Jupiter. What does this mean? It is a unique configuration. Here is a great description of it from darkstarastrology.com

And this Yod is entwined with the Lunar eclipse. Yods are sometimes called ‘The Finger Of God’, because life feels fated or destined. At the same time there is a yearning for perfection signified by the planet that it is pointing at. This one is God pointing at…. well God.”
The aspect of feeling something as a fated event is very interesting because we can often feel this way around eclipses in general, but with this aspect we might expect that whatever pushes us, or globally, the partnerships and relationships to a type of breaking point so that we consider a new approach or form of partnership may have a very special or destined effect on us.
