Planetary Shifts This Month
Mercury Retrograde August 30th to September 22nd we have our communication planet once again out of phase - causing potential miscommunication, lost letters, emails, texts that go awry, lost items, computer glitches - or forgetting you needed to sign or send something important. This is all of the extremes that can happen - or not. Each Mercury retrograde phase has it's own flavour, but we can still take all precautions that out communications are up to snuff :)
New Moon Solar Eclipse in Virgo
“Eclipses are dramatic “wild cards” in our horoscopes. They are some of the most dramatic tools that the universe uses to get us to pay attention to areas in our life that need to change. They uproot us, surprise us, and get us moving. They shake us out of our feelings of compliancy so that we can move from one level of maturity to another, to a higher plane, and they work very rapidly. Eclipses want us to change, and change we do! ”
Major Aspects of this Eclipse/ New Moon
The Sun, Moon and North Node are conjunct or sitting on top of each other. This intensifies the Virgo energy of wanting things to be pure, efficient, useful and helpful, and on the tougher side - it awakens the inner perfectionist OR the slave archetype in us.
Sun conjunct Moon conjunct North Node in Virgo - Square Mars conjunct Saturn in Sagittarius. Picture Mars and Saturn as a person who likes their freedom who is being restricted from movement. This is the energy of Mars conjunct Saturn in Sagittarius. It carries power and frustration. now imagine that frustrated freedom bumping into someone who wants to go over the detailed plan with you. This is what this aspect brings out in us. Our motivations can be at cross purposes with others. We can find ourselves blocking our emotions, oppressing our feminine side ( vulnerability, nurturing, allowing space and emotion to flow). We can often go against ourselves and our own best interests with this aspect. We can sabotage ourselves. We will all have to guard against doing this.
Mars conjunct Saturn in Sagittarius Square Neptune conjunct South Node in Pisces. Now imagine that pent up need for freedom of movement meeting up with a layer of fog or mist. Now what? the direction isn't clear. We may not even know the questions to ask to find directions let alone express our strong will and freedom. Neptune makes things softer and more ethereal, transcendent, spiritual or escapist and illusory. We REALLY have to let go of any old karma that comes up in this time. How do we know ? We know by what deeper patterns are repeating yet again. What thing or feeling keeps coming over you that you can't seem to solve? Are you asking why something keeps happening to you ? This is a time to dig deep for those underlying answers. Very often the deeper murky things that play on repeat are old karma, past lives.
Some people with this aspect in their charts can end to idealise others, especially those in authority or men in general. They have trouble asserting their own will so they project the strength onto the man or authority in their lives and then feel very disappointed when they don't live up to it. Essentially we have to be careful not to give our power away.
Sun conjunct Moon in Virgo trine 120’ Pluto in Capricorn. This influence is VERY good for us to focus on at this eclipse. Think of the concrete things you can achieve that only rely on yourself. Make your plans or assessment and get it done !
Mars conjunct Saturn in Sagittarius trine 120’ Uranus in Sagittarius. Here we have another antidote to the other aspects. use your firey side and decide to BREAK FREE of what you find oppressive or depressing. You always have control over something in life - even if it's small sometimes. Use this time this month to take a risk if you're ready. This can be a wonderful time of turn-arounds, beginnings and endings. So if you want that result you can push the envelope a bit now.
New Moon Eclipse in Virgo Chart
This chart is drawn for Montreal so it applies specifically by degrees for this region, but the planets are the same anywhere. It is the rising sign that changes depending where on the planet you are. The first set of aspects mentioned - Sun, Moon and North node in Virgo, are in the first house of the Self. They oppose Neptune in the 7th of partnerships and open enemies. This means we can see a lot of shifting in our relationships. We may be torn between respecting our needs vs the needs of the couple. Don't let yourself get caught up feeling like you have to sacrifice yourself. There are always ways to balance things. Both aspects also square that Mars and Saturn in Sagittarius in the 4th house meaning our home and family could be involved in some drama, or that the relationship issues stem from your family of origin, as they often do.
Full Moon Eclipse in Pisces
Even if it seems subtle to see, the planets are starting to breathe a bit here. All the aspects that apply on the Solar eclipse, are the same once again, but the planets have moved a bit and aren't as tightly wound together. This means we have a better chance to see what is going on.
Moon conjunct Chiron in Pisces - this is a toughy! Chiron represents our wound. That place inside where we are most hurt or feel broken. Sometimes it can be from a past life, but very often there is enough pain to draw from in this one. Chiron in Pisces feels it isn't connected to the greater whole. It can feel isolated and depressed. Pisces is here to feel and BE ONE with humanity and with the cosmos, but they often feel misunderstood and will escape through creativity and self medication when they don' t feel they belong on this planet.
Venus in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries- Our desire for harmony and peace, diplomacy and fairness meets with the - screw this I'm out of here Uranus in Aries. This can set us up for some interesting situations. If you are inclined to be the pleaser or mediator you may find with the rest of the aspects pulling our hearts and minds around to the past, it may be better to use the Uranian energy ;)
n the end we still have the very grounding influence of Sun, Mercury and Jupiter 120' trining Pluto - so focus on your own sense of personal expansion and vision. Focus on what you do have control over and get things done !
